This year, we have a great line up of speakers at REST: Reno Education Seminar & Training. These REST speakers have proven their worth in their professional lives and want to share their knowledge with you. These biographies show that these REST speakers have worked hard for their success and gained extensive knowledge through their experiences.
REST Speaker: Claudia Castillo – Course info
Claudia Castillo has been practicing law for over 15 years and represents corporations with regards to all aspects of employment-law related matters. Claudia’s practice includes counseling employers with regards to the entire employment relationship: from onboarding employees, drafting and implementing compliant employer policies, addressing and resolving employee issues, and assisting employers through the termination or lay-off process. Claudia is also an effective, results-driven litigator and defends employers facing claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, disability and wage and hour. Claudia provides services to employers of all sizes and across numerous industries including restaurant, technology, health and medical services, green energy, financial services, logistics and manufacturing with regard to all aspects of workplace/human resources needs. She handles employment litigation matters in both State and Federal Court and before the American Arbitration Association. She also represents clients in mediations and before government agencies. Claudia was born in El Salvador and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Literature from UC Berkeley. In her advice and counsel practice, Claudia conducts workplace investigations and provides management and employee training in both English and Spanish. She also prepares responses on behalf of employers with regards to charges/complaints filed by employees with government agencies, including the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement.
REST Speaker: Derek Gillespie, RPh – Course info
Derek Gillespie received his pharmacy degree from the Oregon State University College of Pharmacy. He completed his residency at the VA Medical Center in Portland, OR. Derek worked at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, OR for 23 years. His first 12 years were in the role of Medical/Oncology floor clinical pharmacist. In 2004 he took the position of Operations Manager, and in 2006 was promoted to Director of Pharmacy for St. Charles Health System. Derek relocated to Reno, NV in August of 2015 where he now serves as the Pharmacy Operations Manager for Renown Health at the Regional Medical Center.
REST Speaker: Craig Greene, CPA/CFF, CFE, MAFF, MCJ – Course info
Craig Greene is partner in charge of Financial Investigation and Forensic Accounting Services for McGovern & Greene LLP, a forensic accounting and litigation services consulting firm with offices in Chicago, IL and Las Vegas, NV. He works as a consultant and expert witness for law firms, corporations, governmental and law enforcement agencies on cases involving allegations of fraud and misrepresentation. Many of his corporate internal investigations have focused on corruption payment schemes to senior corporate executives. Other engagements have involved high profile fraud investigations both nationally and internationally, many of which have involved fraudulent financial reporting. Craig has also been a forensic accountant serving as a consulting or testifying expert for both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving financial business disputes, inappropriate accounting procedures, CPA malpractice, business and contractual damages, business partner/shareholder disputes, securities litigation, business purchases, white collar crime and business valuation. Prior to founding McGovern & Greene LLP, Craig was a Partner in a mid-size accounting practice, principal of his own firm and was a senior auditor at a Big Four accounting firm, where he supervised and performed audits primarily of large publicly held corporations. He has over 40 years of experience as a CPA. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Aurora University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University. Craig is active in the following professional organizations: Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Nevada and Illinois Societies of CPA’s; Institute of Internal Auditors; and National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. He has been a faculty member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Institute of Internal Auditors, the University of Nevada, Reno Gaming Management Program and numerous universities and colleges.
REST Speaker: Drummond Kahn, MS, CIA, CGFM, CGAP – Course info
Drummond Kahn serves on the faculty of the International Institute and the Government Audit Training Institute of the Graduate School USA. He joined the auditing profession in 1990. His auditing roles included Chief of Audit Services for the Oregon Department of Transportation, Director of Audit Services for the City of Portland and State Audit Administrator for the Oregon Secretary of State Audits Division. Drummond began his career in the U.S. Government Accountability Office. He served as National President of the Association of Local Government Auditors (2012-13), received AGA’s Frank Greathouse Distinguished Leadership Award (2013) and is a member of the Comptroller General’s Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards (2009-2016). In 2014, the IIA’s American Center for Government Auditing recognized Drummond as one of the 15 Most Influential Professionals in Government Auditing. Drummond holds a Master’s degree from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor’s degree from Whitman College.
REST Speaker: Rick Krepelka – Course info
Rick Krepelka is Chief Operations Officer of Ardee, Inc. a public risk pool management company. As such, he serves as the Chief Operations Officer of several public risk pools including Golden State Risk Management Authority (GSRMA) where he is responsible for all operational aspects of this 260+ member public entity risk sharing pool. Prior to joining Ardee, Rick managed a diverse group of technology consultants that specialized in accounting software, systems and networking, web development and executive-level technology consulting. He has a broad range of programming, system implementation and consulting experience. Since 1984, he has worked with thousands of businesses and agencies in a wide variety of industries. His areas of expertise have included strategic planning for management information systems, technology planning and web integration of key business processes. Rick has served on the Technology Committee of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and as Chair of the Technology Committee of the Western Association of Accounting Firms. He is the past-Chair and a current member of the Technology Committee of the California Association of Joint Powers Authorities (CAJPA) and the Technology Committee of CSAC-Excess Insurance Authority. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Butte-Glenn Community College District..
REST Speaker: Ann Krilanovich – Course info
Ann Krilanovich advises businesses, organizations and individuals on how to maximize their insurance dollars, protect their assets, and receive the services from their agents/brokers that premium dollars deserve. She is the antidote to cookie cutter insurance products and less-than-knowledgeable insurance sales representatives. Be prepared to absorb tricks, tips, and insights that result in savings before and after insurance losses. Her career in insurance includes selling, servicing, managing, writing and designing custom insurance programs. Ann has tremendous results in getting claims paid efficiently and quickly without leaving dollars on the table. She lectures for professional organizations, and tries to enliven the dullest of topics, commercial insurance!
REST Speaker: Michael McLean, CMA, CPA, CFE, CGFM – Course info
Mike McLean is a financial professional with over 25 years of diverse senior-level management experience across a wide range of industries including manufacturing, healthcare, retail, IPO, and transportation. He first taught for Willamette University in 1978 and the Atkinson School in 1979. Currently Mike is at two start-ups in the Bay Area, both selling to big-box retailers. He served as CFO of Pandigital, a pre-IPO organization in California and manufacturer of digital frames, bleeding edge electronics, a zero ink printer and three new e-readers. Prior to his work at Pandigital, Mike was CFO of Foxhunt Staffing, an IT executive search firm in California, and Hope Community Resources in Anchorage, Alaska. Mike also ran his own CPA firm in Oregon and Washington for nearly twenty years, a practice of over 350 tax, audit and review clients. Mike is an expert in the financial and economic impact of business valuation issues, missing record reconstruction, forensic accounting processes and alleged fraud cases. He has taught courses in subjects including FASB updates, Fraud, budgeting.
REST Speaker: My-Ngoc Nguyen, GSLC, GPEN, GCIH, GSEC, CISSP – Course info
My-Ngoc Nguyen (pronounced Menop Wynn) is the CEO and Principal Consultant of Secured IT Solutions. She brings 20 years of experience in IT with 15 years focused on Cyber Security. She has deep experience with managing and maturing cyber security programs where she has had to develop, implement, assess and manage programs for both the Federal government and private sector. My-Ngoc is highly experienced in IT security and risk methodologies, legal, and compliance programs. Along with a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems, she is a former QSA. Additionally, she is a certified instructor for the SANS institute, a world-renowned organization that conducts Cyber Security research and training. Furthermore, she is an active member of the FBI’s InfraGard, Secret Service Electronic Crime Task Force (ECTF), the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, (ISC)². My-Ngoc co-founded the non-profit CyberSafeNV and is presently the chairman. She was also an A2LA assessor.

Todd C. Williams is an executive consultant with three decades of experience helping organizations connect strategy to successful projects. He has worked with startups and multi-billion dollar companies. He is a prolific writer sharing his wisdom and experience so that others can succeed. He has authored two books: “Filling Execution Gaps: How Executives And Project Managers Turn Corporate Strategy Into Successful Projects” (De Gruyter, 2017) and “Rescue the Problem Project: A Complete Guide to Identifying, Preventing, and Recovering from Project Failure” (AMACOM, 2011). He also wrote contributing sections to “Gower Handbook of People in Project Management” (2013) and “Toyota: A Saga of Success” (2008) and he has been a technical editor for other books on project management. REST Speaker: Jeanne Yamamura, CPA, CGMA, MIM, Ph.D. – Course info
Jeanne Yamamura is a Professor of Accounting Emerita at the University of Nevada, Reno College of Business. Jeanne brings a wealth of professional accounting and academic experience along with a healthy dose of humor to her presentations and workshops. Licensed as a CPA in Nevada and California, she has worked in public, private, and governmental accounting and auditing in the United States and internationally. She is currently serving as a mentor and coach for candidates studying for the CPA exam via Wiley CPAexcel. She also provides training for governmental accountants and auditors in Micronesia, Polynesia, and the Caribbean and U.S. CPAs. She holds a doctoral degree in business administration from Washington State University-Pullman, a master’s degree in international management from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
